How many amps a car puts out depends on the type of car. For this, we use a measurement called amps hours which allows us to measure how long the battery will last between charges. 

If a battery has amp hours of 100Ah, it would mean that it can put out 5 amps for 20 hours. If you were to use 20 amps, then it would last 5 hours.

How Fast Does a Car Battery Charge? 

In general, car battery chargers will have a power of around 2 amps. And, most car batteries will have a capacity of around 48 amps when fully charged.

This means it will take around 24 hours to fully charge the battery. It makes sense to use a lower charger like this, as then the chances of your battery overheating are extremely low. Other chargers deliver more amps quickly but watch out as these can also overheat your battery.
